Shawn and Victoria || Engagement Shoot at Hycroft Mansion || Vancouver Wedding Photographer

Shot at picturesque Hycroft Mansion located in West Vancouver.  All interior photographs were taken on a tripod with an extremely low shutter speed.  Meaning two things:  complete natural light and very still subjects.   I can happily say this was a joy and as I love the look of natural light…..it is proven with this shoot that it can be done.    Shawn and Victoria are getting married in Vancouver on September 18th, 2011.  Carly, Michael and myself are beyond thrilled to be apart of their wedding.

Make-up: Carly Flint

Tell me about your wedding. Why did you choose this for your wedding?

From the very start we wanted to find a venue that was welcoming and unique. When we walked into the Church and State Winery for the first time, we loved the character of the venue, the rustic feel and how open the room was so we could see all of our guests. We had a lot of fun planning the wedding. We did not want the planning to be stressful, so we made sure to laugh a lot through the process, and also have a glass of wine while going through the details. We felt because of that, we were able to have a fun, relaxed atmosphere on our wedding day.

What was your favourite moment or part of the day?

Seeing our guests enjoying themselves just as much as we were. We love our music and wanted to make sure everyone was having a good time right from the start of the ceremony.

What advice do you have for other brides?

The day goes by fast, so make sure you take time to take a step back and take in as much as you can.

Is there anything else that helps tell the story of the day?

It was a great day. We were both really relaxed the day of the wedding and knew if any problems came up, a solution would not be far away. Closed off roads downtown just made us utilize the water taxi to meet up for pictures before the ceremony. Minor delays here and there just allowed us to sit back and take in the day. Lisa and her brother were a tremendous help in all aspects(besides being great photographers). Everything from hailing down a water taxi, finding the perfect secluded spot for pictures, making sure grammy was in place before the ceremony started and capturing the emotion and love throughout the day. Dana Shultz from ‘Simply Stunning’ took over every responsibility possible on the day of the wedding which allowed us to relax and fully enjoy the day. It was a lot of work but she made it seem easy:)From the comments of guests, it sounds like the sangria provided by Church and State Winery started the reception off on a hit, and continued from there. Family and friends relaxed on the patio, had a fabulous dinner and enjoyed the day just as much as we did. Matt Perry (dj Kutcorners) did an amazing job the entire day. We gave him a couple of songs for the ceremony and first dance and then let him set the mood during the reception. Needless to say the dance floor was packed all night and we received a ton of comments on how good the music was. We could not have asked for a better day:)

Dom and Lindsay’s Engagement Shoot at Playland || Vancouver Wedding Photographer

Before I left for Paris I met up with Lindsay and Dom one evening to ride the old rickety roller-coaster at the Play Land in Vancouver.  It was scary and thrilling all in one fell swoop.  Even though it is NOT RECOMMENDED I took my camera with me and snapped them screaming as we ascended for the first mountain….from there it was hold on for dear life.   We came off the coaster…..laughing and full of adrenaline.   It was incredible and Lindsay and Dom and two of the sweetest people around.  So in love with each-other…..playful, funny and tender.    I can’t wait for there up coming wedding at Newlands Golf Club…..it will be spectacular.

Thank you to Lindsay and Dom for making this such a wonderful experience…..we bonded on the roller-coaster!

This Playland engagement shoot is the second one for me.   Just two years ago I photographed Nicole and Colyn….and it is still one of my most favorite e-sessions of all time.

Dreams come true || Paris, France to Port Alberni, Canada. || Vancouver Wedding Photographer

Life lately has been an incredible journey of dreams come true.  Opportunity to shoot at Hycroft Mansion in Vancouver, photo-shoot in Paris, France and simply put some of the most amazing weddings.  Really and truly it dawned on me while travelling that I get to freeze moments in time for a living….and that is something that really fills my spirit with absolute happiness.   I have had the opportunty to capture images of people in love and simply put, just beautiful moments.  Below is a photo captured a the Louvre in Paris France, at 6;30 am.  The clouds parted for a moment and shone a stream of the softest light you could ever imagine.  Making Corrie look like an angel and making me cry behind the lens.  It was to date the most stunning light I have ever witnessed or photographed.   So all of you out there who want gorgeous photos….getting up at the crack of dawn would be something completely worth while.   The only people and or creatures at the louvre were birds and a street cleaner.   Later thousands of people and a rain storm.   Paris was magic.  This summer is magic and I have the best clients in the world!

I have to also include an incredible shout out to my ladies who travelled nearly 10, 000 km to not only tour the city of Paris for the first time, but to make a dream of mine come true.  Carly: My make-up artist and right hand lady!  Your amazing and I could not do this with out you. You make people look and feel incredible~!  You are a rockstar make-up artist who has a future so bright it burns my eyes.

Corrie: The Flash, my model and muse.  There are no words to desicribe how you transform in front of the lens….just purity and soul.  Nothing contrived….only you.

Marissa: The positive one…..you really are one of the happiest supportive people I have ever met.  You are beautuful, inside and out.  You are incredible and inspiring to not only photograph but just to listen to.  You are wise beyond your 23 years.

Mom: The Gypsie protector and my assistant for the week.  What an amazing journey we went on.  I will always have this experience with you close to my heart.  You kept up with all of us the entire trip, made us coffee, carried my tripod and handed me lenses…when needed.  You are the best mom ever!!!!

Finally, my brides and grooms….you are fearless warriors who love photography.  You climb cliffs, mountains in the snow with bare feet, scale trees, and push the boundries of your personal safety all in the name of an image.  You are equally responsible for the images captured!  You are amazing and I can not thank you enough for trusting me.

I can’t wait to show all of you the images captured over this past summer…..now this is me back to editing….thank you for your patience.  xo
