Yesterday I had to honor of attending the wedding of Omar and Rupy with my good friend and pretty much family Corrie-Lynn. The Sikh wedding ceremony is known as “Anand Karaj” which means ‘Blissful Union”. The Sikh marriage is a very colourful and unique ceremony in which two individuals are joined in a partnership of two equals. Rupy looked like a princess when she walked down the aisle in a heavily embroidered red lehenga leaving all of us speechless. Omar was debonaire in a tan suit and carried a traditional sword. The ceremony was melodic, colourful, and full of rich tradition. Both women and men sat on opposite sides of the room, heads covered and feet bare. The room was blanketed in wall to wall carpet which was very comfy to sit on.
After the ceremony we were treated to a vegetarian lunch of traditional Indian food. I was in heaven and that was just the first meal of the day!
After the lunch Corrie and I went and took some photos here in Richmond. Corrie is the beautiful sister of my muse Carly! Corrie was rocking a headpiece from Adorn Atelier and My Grad Dress for 1998!
I am in the process of getting this Mamiya C330 working again. In the meantime, it made for a gorgeous prop!
A few moments before this photo was captured Corrie took a bad fall, which resulted in bruises, scrapes and a bloody noise. I felt so bad, but Corrie was a tough cookie and wanted to continue.
We should all love ourselves….how adorable is this photo!
Back to the wedding. Dance. Amazing Food. Gorgeous Bride and Groom. Fabulous Guests and lovely and heartfelt speeches.
